Close Quarter Combat - CQC
Our Close Quarters Combat (CQC) program offers a modern, comprehensive firearms training experience. Our expert instructors guide students through monthly classes, covering the use of handguns, shotguns, and rifles in a tactical setting. Students also participate in dry training classes where we introduce hand to hand combat, firearms maintenance, movement, dynamic shooting positions, holster draw, reloads, malfunctions, and scenarios.
Unlike traditional shooting ranges, our program takes place in our Tactical Range, which is an open instructional space. Handguns are kept in holsters and long guns are carried with slings, promoting real-world application. Firearms, ammunition, and targets are provided in the course. You can use your own firearms as long as they are approved by our instructors.
Tactical Firearms Training
Learn advanced tactical level shooting skills and techniques with handguns, shotguns, and rifles.
Develop high level marksmanship and weapons handling skills in both static and dynamic shooting positions.
Learn the various methods of loading, unloading, and clearing malfunctions.
Experience shooting in a low-light environment.
Learn how to setup, wear, and use modern tactical gear and equipment.
Firearms Maintenance: Learn how to clean and care for firearms from highly trained and industry certified armorers.
Armed and Unarmed Hand to Hand Combat
While the majority of the CQC program focuses on firearms training; students also get to experience how to use knives, hand-held lights, firearm retention, and unarmed techniques against an opponent. This is based on what we teach in our Ninpo martial arts program.

Professional Firearms Instructors
All our instructors are members of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors. Most of them also have a military background with the Canadian Armed Forces.
Indoor Tactical Range
A traditional indoor shooting range has fixed bench stalls with lanes and a single target per shooter. There's typically a target retrieval system to adjust the distance and it's only safe to breathe from the designated firing position. An indoor tactical range is an open space with a designated firing direction and a robust HEPA air filtration system. This allows unlimited positioning, the ability to place targets in any spot in front of the backstop, and safe breathing conditions anywhere in the range. This allows us to run a variety of scenarios with multiple targets, movement, and dynamic shooting positions.

Obtaining a PAL ensures all students have already met the same level of firearms safety training. Maintaining a valid PAL also means you are in good standing with your community with no criminal record.

Drawing a loaded handgun from the holster is a potentially dangerous action. Certification ensures the user has memorized, both mentally and physically, the required steps to safely and quickly perform the holster draw. Our instructors set a very high safety performance standard with the holster draw.

You will need:
Electronic Ear Protection: Electronic ear pro boosts human voices while protecting your hearing. Someone unable to hear range commands is a safety issue for everyone in the class.
Ballistic Eye Protection: Z87.1+ rated ballistic eye protection is required due to the risk of ricochet and flying brass casings.
Hat: A baseball cap or similar prevents flying brass from falling behind your glasses and keeping long hair from snagging and interrupting your shooting. A hat is included in the equipment package.
You can purchase all these items at the academy. If you already own these items, they must be approved by our instructors before they can be used in the range.

The student uniform and equipment package is a requirement for participating in the CQC program. Included in the package is:
ITTA T-Shirt
ITTA Hat
Inner and outer gun belts
Holster for a Glock handgun
Magazine pouches for both a handgun and rifle
Admin pouch for loose items
The belt is assembled by ITTA for right or left handed use and meets the basic needs of an entry level student. If you already own a belt setup, our instructors will need to approve it prior to use in the range.

Enrollment
Anyone who wishes to join our CQC program must first complete both the non-restricted and restricted firearms safety courses or already have a valid PAL.
